One Year Of Photography by Howard Haby

156/365: 85 mm f1.8

I received an 85 mm f 1.8 today. I decided to rent it for a week just to check it out. It’s suppose to be a beautiful lens. It’s similar to my 50 mm f1.8, but the build quality is a lot better, it’s a little sharper and doesn’t have the focusing issues of the nifty-fifty. Overall, very nice. The photos you see here for the next week will most likely come from this lens because it’s capable of a lot better than what I have below. I’m really liking it – a lot- but I just have to adjust to a 85 mm prime lens.

So far – LOVELY. Excellent saturation and contrast and beautiful bokeh, too.I can’t wait to get a nicer day to fool around with this lens. Even a gloomy, drizzly day like today looks a lot brighter and happier with this lens.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh yeah, there’s a couple places: rentalens.ca – this is the first place we rented from, the guy is a really nice fella, good customer service.
There’s another place as well: lensrentalscanada.com

Both are in Ontario and their prices are very similar. Couldn’t recommend one over the other. Check it out.
