103/365: Innik Visits

A few times a week, Amy’s sister Natasha drops by with Dexter’s cousin, Innik. Innik is a great dog, and he has a really good temperament. Someone who isn’t used to dogs may be intimidated by his looks and size, but once you get to know him, you realize what a softy he actually is. Thank goodness for Innik though, as he’s helped to socialize Dexter so much. When we got Dexter, he was way too young. He was an orphan puppy, and didn’t spend enough time around his mother and the litter so missed out somewhat in that aspect. But Innik has helped him, showing him what he can get away with, and what he can’t.

I can’t say it’s been a total success, because dogs will be dogs and they always have a little tussle here and there. They never seriously hurt each other, but from time to time, it’s gets serious enough (or worries us enough) that we have to step in. Really though, they’re more like brothers than cousins, and what two brothers never fought a little when they were young?

The following photos are from a visit this evening, and one of their rough “play sessions”. I thought the black and white was a nice touch here, as well as the motion in the photos.
